Streamer Spotlight: Hempbeard

6. February 2021 - written by dkp at 21:43 • 0 Comments
Name: Hempbeard Channel: twitch.tv/capthempbeard General Streaming Schedule: 11pm - 6am EST Monday - Sunday Main Focus: PvE, PvP, Jestering around the Royals How did you get into streaming? How long have you been an Albion streamer? A friend of mine introduced me to the idea of streaming a couple of years ago. Never really had my own interest in it, but friends recommended it, and now I’m here streaming basically seven days a week. I’ve been streaming Albion essentially since launch. Started about a week or so after release. Never played any of the Alphas or Betas, unfortunately. How is streaming Albion different from streaming other games? The community. Easily one of the better ones I’ve ever been part of. Sure we can be toxic at times, but it seems that there is a general basic respect everyone gives each other. After all we’re all still here, still playing, and for some, still fighting each other. What is your general approach to streaming? Do you plan out activities in advance, or head out into the world and see what happens? WE’LL DO IT LIVE! I don’t plan anything out other than when I start and end. Music each night is random, you will find a variety of genres from hip-hop to death metal, but nothing is planned. As far as activities, you will find me out in the Royals solo or with a small group. Once enough of The Pirates hop online, we usually head to a dungeon or go faction flag. We just go where the wind takes us; we’re Pirates. Do you have a favorite moment you can share from one of your streams? One of my favorite moments happened somewhat recently. We were dealing with a small-time troll group who jumped us successfully at least once in Highbole Glen. After that we started dodging their fights, trying to get their party members annoyed at “content denial.” Eventually we were making them take the fights under our conditions: open world, in outposts, etc. One night, we stomped them easily three times. The third and final fight, they had to call in their guild leader in 8.1 tank armor and still got wiped. Needless to say, still proud of that one. Making rivalries and duking it out open world is one of my favorite activities in the game. twitch.tv/videos/369467411 Any ideas of new content for future streams? Eventually we (The Pirates) will have enough to make a solid team, and maybe start hitting up Hellgates. Do you have any advice or tips for other players who are considering being Albion streamers? Be consistent. Don’t give up. Don’t get discouraged. Anything else to add? Thank you everyone for the support for the past year and a half. Thank you to SBI for making a game we all love, and most importantly, thank you for supporting Linux. Looking forward to the randomized dungeons and future content updates. Can you share some of your favorite clips with us? Royal Zone Standoff: twitch.tv/videos/376013807 COMBAT vs The Pirates - LTG: twitch.tv/videos/376015161 What could go wrong? twitch.tv/videos/362695424 Enjoy the clips? Be sure to follow Hempbeard on Twitch and stay tuned for more upcoming Streamer Spotlights.

[February 2nd] Razor Cut on Bear Paws Hotfix (Update: 16:34 UTC)

3. February 2021 - written by dkp at 11:35 • 0 Comments
Update (16:23 UTC): Server is up! Hi everyone, We will need to take the server down temporarily for a hotfix due to an issue with the Razor Cut ability on Bear Paws, where the cooldown sometimes resets by 100% instead of the intended 40%. The hotfix will temporarily disable the cooldown reduction effect of the Razor Cut ability on Bear Paws. We will fix the ability properly in a later patch to work like intended, until then the cooldown reduction will have no effect. In light of this, the server will go down at 16 UTC for the hotfix deployment. This will take approximately 20 minutes and the game should be up at ~ 16:20 UTC. We apologize for the inconvenience caused. - Mytherceria & Dev Team

But a rumor spoken enough, echoing through the vast halls of YouTube comments and forum threads, may become a reality... Behold the arrival of Albion's probably most-requested feature of all time: Patch 13 arrives on February 2, and in addition to the shiny new Use All button, it will bring numerous combat balance changes to shake up the meta, updated Avalonian mob spells, further mobile optimizations, and more. [Postponed] Faction Warfare: Playtest! (Update: January 12th)

Update (January 12th): Mytherceria schrieb: Hi everyone, First of all, it’s great to see your excitement and interest in participating in this playtest! I’ve come bearing some news that may disappoint (hopefully only temporarily). Our devs have decided to postpone the playtest to a new date, so as to allow you to experience and give feedback on a fuller version of the feature then. This will result in more useful data for us, as well as a better playtest experience for you. We will be announcing the new playtest date later on and will update this thread as soon as there’s more information, so be sure to keep checking back! Finally… I know you’ve told all your friends and possibly even your grandma about this playtest - we apologize for the inconvenience and ask for your patience in hanging on, just a little bit longer :) - Mytherceria & Dev Team Hi everyone, We hope you’re excited about our Faction Warfare rework that will be coming out this year! 1,274 accounts banned for third-party currency transactions

22. January 2021 - written by dkp at 11:14 • 0 Comments
Hi everyone, Since yesterday, we have banned over 1,200 accounts for involvement in third-party currency transactions. This is against our Terms and Conditions and the relevant section is quoted below: 4.5.1 Users are prohibited from selling, purchasing, renting, leasing, offering, accepting, disseminating or copying Virtual Benefits, including Virtual Currency, within and/or outside the Game - in whatever form – to/from third parties unless expressly permitted by these Terms and Conditions or the Game Rules. [...] You may already know this, but the silver acquired from these sellers is fraudulently obtained. In most cases, the silver is purchased with Gold using stolen credit card or other payment information. As a result, once discovered, these payments are charged back - and we, as the merchant, are also hit with a chargeback fee. Purchasing from these third party sellers actively hurts SBI and the development of the game. Apart from this, we want to keep a fair playing field and stable economy in the game and will continue to tackle this issue. If you suspect anyone of being involved in third-party currency transactions, please report them to our support team at support@albiononline.com with any evidence that you have. We do not discuss player sanctions or name banned accounts due to data privacy reasons. - Mytherceria & Support Team

Sandbox Interactive joins Stillfront

22. January 2021 - written by dkp at 10:03 • 0 Comments
Dear Albion Community, As you might have read in the news, Sandbox Interactive will be joining Stillfront in January 2021. Stillfront consists of a family of game studios that largely work independently, while sharing knowledge and expertise between them to support each other. For the past eight years, we have been building Albion Online up completely on our own - everything from development, to marketing, translations, customer support has been built up by ourselves. Now that Albion is growing at a massive rate, we realize that being on our own is not always an advantage. There are just too many things we’d have to master, and while we believe no one can develop Albion Online better than we can, there are plenty of areas around the game itself where we could benefit from additional expertise. This is why we decided to join the Stillfront Family. The partnership with Stillfront allows us to remain fully invested in Albion Online and its development, focusing on making the best Sandbox MMORPG experience in the world, while benefiting from Stillfront’s expertise in marketing and publishing to spread the word of Albion Online around the world. For you, the players, this will mean more people to play with, more capacities for development of patches and updates, and simply more Albion Online as we continue to grow the game over the coming years. With this ending to 2020, we’re looking forward to a bright future for Albion Online in 2021 and beyond. Please let us know what questions you have about this in the comments below! Robin ‘Eltharyon’ Henkys, CEO & The Sandbox Interactive Founder Team Update: We've put together a little FAQ on the questions you've had about us joining Stillfront Group for visibility. Please click on the button below to view the options! FAQ How does Stillfront Group operate? Why did Sandbox Interactive join them? Stillfront Group itself only has a small number of people centrally. Their model is based on a hands-off approach where these they look for successful and well-run game studios to acquire and then let them continue what they do best while encouraging them to help each other out where it makes sense - in our case, that would be in marketing. See this interview with Stillfront's COO for some background on their approach. This is drastically different from how other companies / publishers handle games after they acquire them. We all know how this often turns out. And that's why we did reject offers from those types of companies. It was very important for us that we have the independence to continue to run the game as before - with exactly the same team and the same core philosophy. That's what made Albion successful in the past and will allow us to take the game even further in the future. // $(function() { $('.jsSpoilerBox').each(function(index, spoilerBox) { var $toggle = $(spoilerBox).removeClass('jsSpoilerBox').find('> header > .jsSpoilerToggle'); $toggle.click(function() { $toggle.toggleClass('active').parent().next().slideToggle({ complete: function() { var $container = $(this); if ($container.is(':visible')) { WCF.DOMNodeInsertedHandler.execute(); } if (!$toggle.data('hasCustomLabel')) { if ($container.is(':visible')) { $toggle.text('Spoiler ausblenden'); } else { $toggle.text('Spoiler anzeigen'); } } } }); }); }); }); //]]> Will there be any changes to the overall vision of the game? Will the dev team still have control over the game’s development? There are no plans whatsoever to change Albion Online's game design philosophy, road map or vision for the game. Sandbox Interactive's staff and management remain unchanged and all the founders of the company will fully stay on board. We will continue to work on the game exactly as we have done before and, as always, in close collaboration with the community. What happens to your business model? Will your stance on micro-transactions change? Will Albion Online transform into a Pay-To-Win game? There are no plans at all to change the underlying business model of the game - i.e. premium, gold (for premium or vanity) and vanity items. Our business model is extremely solid, works well and is accepted by the players. It will work just as well on mobile - in particular, given that Albion Online is a cross-platform game. On top of that, adding "p2w" elements to Albion Online would almost certainly make it less profitable as a business. It does not make business sense to alienate our player. Albion has always been built in close collaboration with the community and a lot of its success is ultimately based on that - having a fair and solid business model is part of that arrangement. There is absolutely no reason to change this.

1,274 accounts banned for third-party currency transactions

20. January 2021 - written by dkp at 15:06 • 0 Comments

[RESOLVED] Island Duel Exploit (Update: January 13th)

Update (January 13th): This has been resolved with [13. January 2021] Rise of Avalon Patch 12 PrintsKaspian schrieb: Rise of Avalon Patch 12 - Ver. 1.17.406 / REV 182620 - 13 January 2021 Changes Duels now end in a draw when either player is removed from an island or Hideout Hi everyone, We’d like to inform you about a duel exploit that players have been using to obtain silver from their opponents. This starts off with players inviting others to duel for a silver wager on their island. During the duel countdown, these players change the island’s access rights, so that their opponent gets kicked from the island and loses the duel and silver. We consider abusing this to be an exploit under clause 15.5.4 of our Terms and Conditions and those who do so will be sanctioned accordingly. If you see anyone abusing this, please file a report by writing to support@albiononline.com and provide any evidence you might have, such as approximate server time, names of characters involved, the silver amount lost and ideally footage of the incident. Our developers are currently working on a fix for this issue and we will continue to update you on it. - Mytherceria & Dev Team

Sandbox Interactive joins Stillfront

13. January 2021 - written by dkp at 09:58 • 0 Comments

Sandbox Interactive joins Stillfront

10. January 2021 - written by dkp at 13:48 • 0 Comments
Update (January 8th): The survey has been sent out! Hi everyone, We hope you enjoyed our “Year-End Update” Dev Talk where we reflected on the development of the game and growing community this year, offered a preview of our plans for 2021 and asked for your feedback on it in our Albion Online Roadmap 2021 Survey (we're still collecting responses). In January 2021, we will be sending out the 2020 End of Year Community Survey to all recently active players via email, to gather further feedback on all aspects of the game, such as its development, performance, usability, communication and community platforms, and many more. Your contribution will help us to have a better understanding of what you’ve enjoyed so far and what you’d like to see in the world of Albion. If you would like to participate in this survey, please ensure that you’ve opted in to receive our newsletter and check your Spam folder on a regular basis in case it was sent there instead. Sandbox Interactive joins Stillfront

2. January 2021 - written by dkp at 15:11 • 0 Comments

Sandbox Interactive joins Stillfront

27. December 2020 - written by dkp at 09:14 • 0 Comments
[Android] XIGNCODE3 with Rise of Avalon Patch 11

22. December 2020 - written by dkp at 16:30 • 0 Comments
Hi everyone, With the release of Rise of Avalon Patch 11, we have implemented an additional anti-cheat program, XIGNCODE3, to the game for Android. XIGNCODE3 is a tool we are introducing to prevent players from using emulators, hacks, autoclickers and other macros, or anything that results in client manipulation. This works alongside our existing Easy Anti-Cheat software and dedicated bot investigation team to provide a better gameplay experience for legitimate Albion players. We are also continuously working on more solutions to identify and ban new tools that are against our Terms and Conditions and give players an unfair advantage over others. - Mytherceria & Dev Team
